Tongariro Crossing
This day we did one of the most famous one-day-hikes of New Zealand. I was really looking forward to the volcanic area, and my high expectations have been fullfilled. Of course, for us tough Austrians the hike was rather an easy half-day-walk. *g*

Mount Ngaurohe
This cloudy bastard was supposed to be a side-trip. But since the wheater-forecast warned us of rain and we would not have seen anything anyway on the cloudy summit, we cancelled it and continued on the "normal" path, cursing constantly. Anyway: We'll be back (maybe), so don't You dare beeing cloudy again next time!

Red Crater
This was the highest point of our journey. And probably the most colourful one, too. Do You see that crack on the right-hand image-center? Looks like some old scar where a horrible creature from the underworld has escaped into the world of the living...!

Great for cats
Doesn't that look like the stuff one puts in a cat litter pan? Except that it comes with more colours. Great stuff, really. Should have taken a bucket full with us. (as we should have with many other things and, in fact, people :) )

Emerald Lakes
Those are the Emerald Lakes. When searching for images of the Tongariro Crossing, you only seem to get pictures of those d***d lakes. I really don't see what's so special about them, when there is colourful rocks and great foul-smelling smoke everywhere! ;)
